Catholic sacramental designed by the Blessed Virgin Mary herself in a vision to St. Catherine Labouré in 1830.
The medal was originally known as the Medal of the Immaculate Conception but became known as the Miraculous Medal due to numerous confirmed miracles attributed to Our Lady's intercession through it.
The front of the medal depicts Mary standing on a globe with rays of light emanating from her hands, surrounded by the prayer "O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee".
The reverse side (not shown in the image) features the letter 'M' surmounted by a cross, with the hearts of Jesus and Mary below, encircled by twelve stars.
The medal is a physical reminder of faith and a request for graces, which Mary promised would be shed upon those who ask for them.
